I love Cymbals Eat Guitars, as does a whole bunch of other Brooklyn hipsters clad in tight jeans, drinking expensive coffee, walking small dogs.

But hype-raking reviews aside, there’s this important detail: Why There Are Mountains is a real album, a ‘grower’ that dishes out simple pleasures with every spin. Aside from obvious recurring elements (D’Agostino’s restless yelp and sinuous riffs, there are shades of shoegaze, Motown, and Technicolor-tinged pop. Not to mention pure chaos, as explored in the gate-crashing “…And the Hazy Sea,” which is actually one of my favorites.

Anyways. If you like them too, you should take the time to watch their recent meet-up with the notorious Ice Cream Man. A great acoustic version of 'Indiana' came of it. And I recommend you keep watching and singalong with Hey Marseilles in the second half of this video:
