Babylove and the van Dangos deliver an intense live show. No matter if it is in an underground club in Tokyo, at a block party in Berlin, or on stage at Roskilde Festival, the band guarantees an extravaganza of ripping skanks, heavy one-drops, and blasting horns, with the energetic frontman Daniel Broman spreading the love of old school ska and rocksteady music.
Their unique take on the Jamaican tradition has brought them around the world and earned them a place in league with the top live acts on the ska scene. Building up their reputation in the old fashioned way, Babylove & the van Dangos have toured across Scandinavia and the rest of Europe and have even gone as far away from their home as Japan. Playing more than 300 shows since they joined forces in 2004, they have built a solid fan base by showing that this band always get the crowd's feet moving to the ska and rocksteady beat.
The international quality of the band can be seen in their collaborations with some of the genre's top names. Jamaica's "Queen of Ska" Doreen Shaffer, known from The Skatalites, as well as Coolie Ranx, known from The Toasters and The Pilfers, appear on their second album Lovers Choice which is mixed by the well known ska-producer Victor Rice and released on Megalith Records (CD) and Mad Butcher Records (vinyl). Their latest release is a vinyl 7" split with legendary ska singer-songwriter Chris Murray, released on Jump Up Records and followed up by a joint European tour with this artist in the fall of 2009.
Babylove and the van Dangos are currently finishing their self-produced, forthcoming album The Money and The Time for release in Spring 2010.
